38 people (including many teachers) from Ratcliffe College ran in the Hinckley Half Marathon as part of ‘Carols Runners’
Many never even dreamt of being able to run the distance but everybody finished with some very respectable times!
Many are doing it again this year on May 13th; so if you have a connection with the school, and even if you don’t make sure you show your support for them; either on the day or by making a contribution.
Here is a short article about the day:
“ON SUNDAY May 8, 38 brave people ran in a team from Ratcliffe College called Carol’s Runners in the Hinckley half-marathon in aid of LOROS and the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Ratcliffe teachers had been inspired by their colleague Carol Gerighty, who is battling the condition. The race started in Market Bosworth and took a circular route around neighbouring villages. For many it was the first time they had run this distance. It was a challenging course with many steady inclines and hills, and a formidable wind. Yet the atmosphere was wonderful. Many congratulations to all the competitors and spectators who made this such a memorable occasion. Gareth Lloyd, headmaster of Ratcliffe College and an experienced marathon runner, said: “Carol has been an inspiration to us all, so to run this event with staff, students and friends of the college has been an honour.” ”
